Our Projects
Genesis owns
seven exploration licences ("Exploration Licence" or "Project") covering more than
1,877 km2 in Queensland and the Northern Territory of Australia and a joint venture agreement giving the Company the right to earn the majority position in two highly prospective gold and copper projects in Macedonia.
Highlights
-
Gladstone
hosts a series of manganese deposits over a strike length of 21.5 kilometres
close to a major port and includes the strategically located historic manganese
mine at Mount Millar that averaged 44% to 47% Mn. A small reconnaissance rock
chip sampling over Mt Millar has yield high grade geochemical surface manganese
assays in the order 58.7%, 60.5% and 61.1%.
-
Geological
mapping has confirmed the extent of the mineralisation in the vicinity of the
historic Mount Miller minesite, and further identified manganiferous lithologies
along strike to the north of the mine.
-
A
detailed geophysical IP (induced polarization) survey completed over the
minesite environs recorded a unique response over the known mineralisation.
Responses of similar tenor were noted on IP survey lines 100 metres north and
200 metres south of the Mount Miller mine. The response on the northern line
coincides with the mapped position of the manganiferous outcrop noted in
mapping.
-
The
Mount Miller mine, the manganiferous outcrop and coincident IP anomalies
represent the first round of priority drill targets towards defining a manganese
resource. Six
diamond drill holes are scheduled between January and February 2009 with all
approvals granted by the Queensland Mines and Energy.
-
Geological
mapping over Fenn Gap has delineated over 9.9 kilometres of outcropping goethite
(iron) mineralisation (between 43% and 48% Fe) with moderate to high grade
(33.2% Mn - 52.6 MnO2) manganese assays obtained from the Table
Prospect area.
-
Ground
gravity survey has delineated 6 drill targets with the
source bodies having widths of 30-40m, 100m depth extents and similar strike
extents to the mapped mineralisation provided a good correlation to the gravity
anomaly. All model bodies had dips 70° to the south and are located to the north
of the gravity anomaly, which suggests that the gravity response is due to a
down dip component rather than the surface mineralisation.
-
High
grade manganese mineralisation (recent rock chip sampling has delineated
manganese averaging 41% to 52% Mn) outcrops identified at McArthur River similar
in form and grade to the deposits at Groote Eylandt, Northern Territory (Groote
Eylandt Mining (GEMCO) Operations).
-
The
McArthur River Project also hosts extensive electro-magnetic drill targets which
are believe to host manganese mineralisation based on high grade manganese assay
overlying electro-magnetic anomalies.
